On the news, in the press, on TV
One in four, the odds were stacked
Even if you never smoked
Even if you ate pure food
One in four would hear those words
‘I’m afraid the test results don’t look good’

She knew the road ahead looked rough
It was territory best left unexplored
One in four must follow this route
Even the longest journey ends
Even the longest odds can win
One in four would run the race
She knew from the first she’d beat this thing
