Lost and Found

heart-beat

I found a heart
in my bottom drawer.
Is it yours?
Been accused
of breaking a few
in my day,
but never had occasion
to find one,
ripped out and laying
there, cold and red,
lifeless in the dark.
Is it yours?
I’ll hold on to it for a day or two,
if you decide you want it back.
