A list of things most missed

wind-trees

A dark night, offering no moon to reveal the surroundings
A warm wind, the kind you find in summer, without storm or bluster
Leaves rustling like the taffeta underskirts of southern belles rushing past
The air afloat with fireflies, blinking like earthbound stars
A frog nearby, singing a throaty chorus of some frog love song
The flash of laser beam eyes peering out from a stand of trees
An eerie, rhythmic calling and answering back of owls perched high above
These are the things most missed here in the heartless, silent, frozen winter
